About Our Scholarship Program
The VaBHMA Scholarship Program was established to honor the legacy of Black history by investing in the next generation of leaders, scholars, and community builders. Each year, we award scholarships to deserving students in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area.
Our scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, community service, and a personal essay reflecting on the significance of Black history and their vision for the future.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for a VaBHMA scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Graduating high school senior or current college student
- Resident of the Fredericksburg, Virginia area
- Minimum 2.5 GPA (cumulative)
- Demonstrated community service or leadership involvement
- Enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or university
- Submission of a personal essay on Black history and community impact
